ACE was established in April 2020 by Dr. David Githuku, as an entrepreneurship training institute and business accelerator for African Youth and Women entrepreneurs. The focus was to help them to build, grow, fund and scale their micro, small or medium enterprises (MSMEs). Over the 2 years at ACE, more than 600 entrepreneurs have been trained through online training platforms, and many have shared testimonials of increased sales growth following the ACE training. Some have shared that their businesses have doubled or tripled in revenue since joining ACE, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Others have been able to scale-up their “home businesses” into larger scale, value addition Agro-industries and other green manufacturing businesses. It is also exciting to celebrate the new authors who have published their books since joining ACE. ACE also has a Business Accelerator Group that prepares established SMEs for funding readiness, so they can scale their businesses. So far, 40 cohort members have been shortlisted for funding through local and international financiers.
Early in the start-up of ACE, David invited his friend, Jo Librero from the Philippines to partner with him to provide training in Digital Marketing and Sales Training. This partnership has been very fruitful, and Jo currently leads our Premium Freelancer Training program. In this program, we help entrepreneurs to start their own Freelancer businesses, where they can provide high value services and receive premium pay from global customers. This program is primarily targeting the Youth and Women in Kenya who are already registered on Kenya’s Ministry of ICT’s Ajira Platform.
A couple of our ACE founding members are now associates and partners in the ACE business. Mrs. Gladys Ouma, a personal branding coach and event planner, is now the Program Director for ACE in Africa. Mrs. Winnie Wakwoma, is a small business strategist and executive coach and is an ACE partner, where she currently leads our Financial Management training and coaching program.
